What's Your Reason?

To be honest some of the blogs I write are just little reminders I need to keep myself on track. Just graduating college I'm left with thoughts of what to do next? How are you gonna get there? Are you even good enough to be there? It's so easy to become overwhelmed with those thoughts. Seems like as soon as you're done demolishing them you deal with a new uphill battle.

You feel like what you're doing isn't good enough. You're not seeing the fruits of your labor. All your hard work isn't being recognize. Everyone is "sleep" on what you got going on. If we let those thoughts hinder our grind we won't get very far. It's imperative that we remember the "WHY" in the grind. Why are we working so hard to get things done? Why do we even want it? If we constantly keep that reasoning in the back of our heads doubts, insecurities, and fears will no longer drive us. If we use our WHY to drive us we no longer are worried about what other people got going on. You can never eat what's on your plate if you're busy looking at the next person. I REPEAT.....YOU CAN NOT EAT WHAT IS ON YOUR PLATE IF YOU ARE BUSY LOOKING AT THE NEXT PERSON.

Zoom in on what you got going on, activate that tunnel vision, focus on your task at hand. Get in on that grind, I don't mean no mediocre grind. I'm talking about that constant, persistent, unmovable, uphill climb grind. That I've decided imma swim instead of sink grind.

That dream you have wasn't placed in your heart for nothing. Time to get to work, your hard work will pay off one day. You don't need any validation from anyone when it comes to that vision you have. Always remember why you started and keep pushing!! Let's get it people, I'm focused are you?

Forever My Brother's Keeper

Imagine how the world would be if we all had the mindset of “Forever my brother’s keeper”? Forever my brother’s keeper is not just a phrase to be taken lightly just as any other phrase. This phrase is one of substance, a saying that expanded into a vision, a vision in which transcended a clothing line.

Forever My Brother’s Keeper Clothing was founded by two inner city athletes who resided in Tacoma, Washington.  Brandon Jimenez and Julian Cruell are the two pioneers who took their vision and turned it into an urban clothing line that represents family, loyalty, and brotherhood. What sets this line a part from any other would be its close nit foundation upon which it was built.

FMBK Clothing is not just a slogan, nor is it just graphics on a T-shirt; it is a way of life, relatable to all beings regardless of age, race, creed, or color.  FMBK clothing brings fashion to the urban world. I got the chance to check out some of their pieces from their newly launched spring 2014 collection. One thing that caught my attention immediately about the line was its simplicity. I am a huge fan of simple. Simple gives you the opportunity to do more with your outfit. The styles in which these tees can be rocked are endless. Below I have featured a couple of my personal favorites from their collection.

The collection can be viewed in its entirety on their website.

Be sure to check them out on

She Sings the Blues

What's more vibrant then royal blue? This color is so rich and makes a great statement piece.

This dress of found at my local thrift store for less than three bucks. At first I didn't quite no what color shoes to wear but I remembered I had a pair of royal blue pumps. I decided to be extra matchu this day!

One thing I love about this dress is the belt, one key thing to wearing flatterinf pieces is finding what works for you. Belts easily pulls in my waist and shows my natural curves.

Oh the Irony!!

I swear I've been meaning to write this a while ago but I've never had time to. I'm  literally sitting in the storage room of my job, talk about getting it in where it fit in. I couldn't let another day go by without spilling out what has been on my heart. This isn't something that has been tearing me down or anything it's something that I has come full circle to me. Recognition of growth and how life can be super ironic. The true meaning of everything that glitters isn't gold.....the grass truly isn't greener on the other side.

We all know going through life we constantly deal with certain situations that may cause us to produce insecurities about ourselves. As females we began to compare ourselves to the next one. Oh she's this and that....so on and so forth. But as you began to mature and become comfortable with the skin you're in ironically those same females you once compared yourself to become the chicks you just look and and shake your head.

You questioned life and wondered why you didn't have a surplus of men to date, men didn't flock towards you as much as them, and felt as if you couldn't get the attention of anyone but what you didn't realize is that you have dodged unnecessary heart ache and baggage. Let's be honest half of these chicks walking around with endless "juice" are heartbroken and hurt, looking for love in all of the wrong places. They have given themselves to men who promise to love them and give them everything that they longed for but leave them empty wth broken promises. Now this may not be the case for all but it's a little over majority.

Oh the irony!! Ironically those same girls who you compared yourself to are now below the level you have matured to. It takes a certain level of maturity to be okay with not having this thing called the "juice". I mean I would much rather wait patiently for one person than entertain endless randoms. These "bad jawns" and "five star chicks" are lowkey losing miserably, entertaining this cycle of insanity messing around with the same type of dudes expecting a different outcome. Baby girl you're worth so much more and others won't see it until you realize that yourself; and for the chicks who are feeling less than hunny you are beautiful and don't let anyone in this world tell you different. That respect that you have for yourself will be respected one day. Never lower your standards to appease a man it'll never be worth it. Wait on hunny  come take a seat next to me because our Boaz is coming ;-)

Popping Prints

Incase you didn't know I love love love love love oh did I say love to thrift!!! I'm absolutely obsessed with thrifting and finding those it pieces that you just gotta have in your closet. Nothing brings me more joy than going in the thrift store and finding a MUST HAVE STATMENT PIECE.

This multicolored skirt was definitely one of my favorite finds that glorious day of thrifting! Not only did I find a great staple piece to add to my closet I got it for just one buck. YES I SAID IT ONE BUCK!! I couldn't just leave it there, it deserved to have a better home *hint hint my closet* It's such a popping piece I look forward to pairing it with a crop top in the summer and bringing out some of the other colors that are in the print. It's so light and fun, the pattern is EVERYTHING!!! I challenge you to step out it the box a little more. This spring add more prints to your wardrobe. I promise you won't regret it! Patterns always add the extra little funk. It allows you to do just enough without doing too much.

Fashion is art...let your body be the canvas...are you ready to be Picasso?

What Fear?

It's always that one little thought that can throw you so far off of your game. That little tiny  voice that can have a huge impact on your gain. It can be detrimental to your success. Coming in like a vicious storm ruining foundations that have been built leaving behind debris of regret, should haves, would haves, and could haves. Fear...a simple  four lettered word that can destroy any and everything if you allow it. Fear isn't something that just happens by chance, it's something that is allowed to happened if one is not in the correct mindset.

Let's be honest, I'm not saying that fear won't appear but it's what's done once it does make itself present. You have to be so consumed  and wrapped up in your vision that what you see in your peripheral does not matter. PERIPHERAL VISION: all that is visible to the eye outside the CENTRAL area of FOCUS; side vision. This is the season of tunnel vision it is imperative that we focus in on our dreams and goals.

2 Timonthy 1:7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.

Everything I blog about is not only a reminder to my readers but also myself. I deal with anxiety and the thoughts of fear but I've told myself long ago I wouldn't allow that to rule my life.

Write a vision and make it plain.
